When the president of the United States proposes a controversial law, self-important celebrities of every stripe are found out to be feasting on their colleagues, giving birth to a new social movement, and impacting the entire country.
Funny, timely, and relevant, "No Offense" holds a mirror up to modern day society and asks, are the adults really the ones in charge?
This political satire was written, directed, and produced by Jerry Belitch. Featuring a 60-plus person cast, all performers were instrumental in bringing this story to life. Pictured from left to right are Justin Dubee as Agent Dubee, Thomas Ferranti as The President, and David Taylor as Agent Trichome.
"No Offense" was shot entirely on a Canon GL2 Mini DV camera with a shoestring budget of $30,000. The production took place at 30 locations over the course of 21 days.
Aside from the cast members, the crew consisted of just three people: The director, production assistant, and the makeup artist.
The video was converted from full screen to wide screen during post-production, and was up-converted from standard to high definition (720p) to simulate the capabilities of modern cameras.
With the help of green screen and set dressing, the same set was reused for convenience and budgeting to appear as if it were several different locations.
In some instances during production, actors walked away from the project, forcing a recast for the final scenes. This resulted in some actors speaking to empty scenery until the characters were recast.
Some actors improvised a few lines of jokes that were so well-received they made it into the final cut of the film. One such example is the line during the first Oval Office scene in which Agent Dubee says, "Tangerine is on the move."
